Before a recipient can be placed on the waitlist, certain information must be saved in the recipient profile or journey profile. (Urgent Listings do not follow these rules).

Organ

Prerequisites for adding a journey to the waitlist

The recipient cannot already have a waitlisted organ journey for the same organ type. (For example, the recipient cannot be waitlisted for a kidney at two transplant programs at the same time.)

Consultation Decision = Completed

Assessment Decision = Recipient to be listed

Under Donor Acceptability Criteria:

  • An Accept or Decline decision must be set for each of:

    • Accept ABO Incompatible Donor

    • Accept HCV NAT+ Donor

    • Accept HCV Ab+ Donor

    • Accept Hep B Core Ab+ Donor

Kidney

Under Donor Acceptability Criteria:

  • A Preferred Donor Type must be saved.

  • An Accept or Decline decision must be set for:

    • Accept A2 or A2B Donor (if the recipient’s blood type is B).

    • Accept Extended Criteria Donor (if the recipient is aged 19 or older).

Kidney

Under Profile > Referrals and Transplants:

  • The recipient must have a completed non-renal (not kidney or pancreas) Ontario transplant on record.

    • An out-of-province non-renal transplant is not sufficient.

Liver

Under Donor Acceptability Criteria:

  • A Preferred Donor Type must be saved.

Pancreas (whole)

Under Profile > Referrals and Transplants:

  • The recipient must have a completed kidney transplant on record; either:

  • The recipient cannot have any additional open kidney journeys (i.e. kidney journeys without a transplant completed date).
